1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
5 TB. unsalted butter
3/4 cup buttermilk
- Preheat oven to 450 deg. F.
- sift together dry ingredients.
- cut in butter with pastry blender or fork, until well blended.
- add buttermilk and lightly mix.
- turn dough out onto a floured board, knead it briefly, then roll out to a thickness of about 1/4 inch. cut with a biscuit cutter.
- bake for 10 to 12 min.
